The trend is left, just as it has been all through history. Which is not the same thing as to the left of you. People far to the right of you can be moving left and still be right of you. The median is far to the right of you. To achieve anything you should be aiming at something to the left of the median, which is to the right of you. Aiming way out of range is likely to be frustrating and counter-productive.
