Why aren't there beach ridges being formed on northern Greenland anymore?


Today beach ridges are not formed along the coast of Northern Greenland, as sea ice shields the coast year round. By the carbon 14 method the beach ridges have been determined to originate from the Holocene Optimum, during which period the sea must have been ice-free, at least in the summertime.
