Needs more CASH to buy ASCEND...I don't believe its a pooling of interest if they don't trade shares? But I really don't have a clue about that stuff

I think everyone is putting too much emphasis on the pooling of interest question.

Indeed, LU's CEO seems to agree with you. Here's what he had to say about this very thing last March:

Some financial analysts said that the accounting issue alone could cool Lucent's ardor for a large takeover. But Schacht seemed to disagree. "It's a complication," he said. "It's not a hurdle."


Why is ASND doing the same?
