Definitely more accurate than actual measurements.... never.

I'm sure they never put up something to mark where sea level actually was.

I am sure my relatives would have noticed a 4 inch increase.

....I make it about 4-5 inches in the last 60 years.......actually have anecdotal evidence of this that is as convincing as anything I've seen.........will relate the circumstances when I get a chance.
