If the poor and middle class were fine with paying the nordic tax rates the Democrat party would be shouting in on all tv news stations. They would say vote for us we will raise taxes and create a beautiful social structure. Why don't they? I would offer they don't because probably every poll they have shows if they say I will tax the rich but I have to tax you significantly more then you are now would lead to a disaster. But that doesn't mean we won't eventually get there because the current system isn't working either. You can't borrow money forever without raising taxes at some point to pay the bill.
