Meathead,
Hi!!! Just got in from a late practice but caught the announcement about Unisys....so, was rather anxious to get onto the thread...only to find your discussion.....I am especially interested in your last statement....<<<<it's feasible to think that 4 or 5 PC suppliers could own 85% of their market within say ....4 years...>>>>>
Would you mind expanding on this??? You don;t impress me as someone who jumps to conclusions and leaps without thinking...that is you are conservative if anything in your estimates......I would appreciate you opinion on how rapidly this may occur...that is what factors in this reduced price environment may cause this consolidation to escalate......IMO Dell will succeed as the eventual winner in any environment....doesn't Unisys coming out today surprise you as being a little early?? Six months ago many would have bet that Apple may be announcing something along these lines....
Thanks!!
Best, Kemble

<<If Intel and Microsoft can control 85% of their respective
markets, it's feasable to think that 4 or 5 PC suppliers
could own 85% of their market within say... 4 years.>>

It's a large world MH, many gray market PCs are sold. If would think (WAG on my part) that 50 60% is doable.
