Very few. It is a very specialized field now. And solely dependent on companies clinging to old technologies. That is changing. For example, the USCIS started the DID(IT) program in 2013 to bring modern software development to the government. That will eventually flush out the bulk of those remaining COBOL jobs.

There are opportunities for the flexible. And, even in IT, most people are not that good at adapting to new technologies.
