I am directing this post towards you because Myth and Broken Clock wouldn't be all that surprised by my story here. First of all, I went to an internist the first week of April. She was a Chinese woman in her 30s. The first thing she said to me was "what can I do for you, babe?" After I told my story, she gave me an antibiotic. Oh, I forgot to say that the doctor's office didn't want to take my private insurance because when they called asking for the benefits of the plan, they were told that my "insurance was to old and they couldn't access the benefits." So, I paid the $80 fee to see the Internist. Later that day, I called my private health insurance and basically flipped out on them. One woman was able to access my benefits and called up the Doctor's office and straightened things out. So the Doctor's office put in a claim for $350 and yesterday I received a check for $280 for the doctor's visit in which I paid $80 to the Doctor. So, I made $200 by going to this Doctor. But my plan has a 1,000 deductible per diagnosis so I never should have received a check to begin with. I was told by my insurance company that they cannot put the benefits of my plan on the computer because the computers are old. I have had this insurance since 1975 and I can swear I have never had this problem before. So now, I have filed a complaint with the NYS Department of Insurance requesting that the benefits of my plan be put on the computers of my health insurance company so when healthcare providers call up to find the benefits of my plan, they will have access to that information.
