If you want to see how the new CPQ notebooks compare feature/price wise to some other vendors, take a look at

zdnet.com

You need Java enabled if you want to use the nifty interactive chart. Not a single model is less than $3K, but most are 233 MHz units.

Anyone know if the new CPQ K6 machines or the $800 HP box have L2 cache?

It's not overall tax rates that trouble me. It is the consumption tax passed this year that I find ludicrous. Who would pass such a tax during a recession? Even American politicians are not this stupid. Prior to the tax, people went out and bought PCs, because they knew the tax would soon be implented. After the tax, PC sales fell off drastically and were actually down year over year.
