The reason I finally gave up my filp-phone was that the ear-piece volume and battery life were horrible.

The new Motorola has great ear-piece volume and holds a charge much longer, so it solved the problems I was having.

We also like Consumer Cellular. Decent phone and you can't beat their rates. We've got their basic Motorola smartphone and it's more than enough for me. I will say their coverage in some rural areas is not as good as we had with Verizon, at least on this end of the country. But it's good enough.
They also post a lot of helpful 'how-to' videos on Youtube.
