Correct; elevated CO2 ( in the blood and exhaled air) is an effect of emphysema and other obstructive diseases, not a cause.

"Bottom line is that CO2 is not a pollutant like CO or O3 is."

CO is a weak GHG with indirect effects, O3 an important one, so yes, it is like them.
