It a narrow part of the picture that you have more than once claimed to be true. And not just you, its a point brought up again and again in different contexts. Its also totally wrong. If the idea is rejected, or even just not asserted much any more, then there would be no point in combating it. But it does get asserted again and again, so I focus on it when its brought up. The narrow point was asserted, so I showed it was wrong. If you want to talk about a broader point that's fine, but then don't defend the narrow one.
