Having lived in both Silicon Valley and Austin, I think Texas is a long way from having the startup investors that Silly Valley has. Investors from all over the globe are there. That said, Silly Valley is truly ridiculously expensive, so much so, it makes 'expensive' Texas places like Austin and Dallas look cheap by comparison. The problem is, Texas is regarded as a horrible asshole backwater state by most provincial Californians. I fielded questions like, 'Is there water there?', 'Do you get stuck by cactus a lot?', 'How was it to live with those people?'
