I am glad you got it resolved. Over the years I have had several contacts with the IRS with questions re my return. Everyone was resolved quickly and easily. Each time I was polite and simply worked on the issue at hand. I had zero problems. I think sometimes individuals get on their high horse and raise the temperature of the discussion - and guess what - the person on the other side of the desk may respond in kind.

I note your other comment:

I have had the similar thoughts lately as I have had to deal with our cable/internet/phones provider. While I eventually got the issue resolved - many people would not have the energy or ability to get the billing right.
