Comment and Request: Around the first of the year, there area lot of folks who move money into stocks, and the prime sources of information they tend to use are periodicals like Worth, Individual Investor, Money, Kiplinger's, etc. About one week after the issues come out there is genrerally a surge in the price of some of the stocks listed as buys for the year. it took me awhile to figure out why some were going up and not others, but I have coorelated that there are at least 3 publications sent out to groups of retirees that mimic some of the picks. In almost all cases, those stocks are subsets of the ones the big rags put out (probably some financial ediotr looking for safe picks) and all go up for a few days after the issues are mailed. Other than that, I found no signifigance to why the stocks surged. If anyone gets any such newsletter (perhaps AARP, USAA, etc.) I would apprecite you posting and flagging them as such so we may watch them for volume/price increases. lastshadow
