I have never understood serious developers basing financial software on Java, nor brokers and investors using trading platforms based on same.

Many broker programs are Java Based as is the one you mentioned.

Trading customer security for coding ease and cross platform use hardly demonstrates concern for customer safety.

Java is one of the largest malware infection vectors due to relative ease afforded badguys to inject hooks into a Java program.
I agree to a certain extent. I will also summit to you that the same argument can be made for the entire Windows OS.

Your risk is higher if you don't protect yourself and is lower if you use common sense and good protective software and reputable websites like Scottrade when on the web. I also suggest never downloading your email to your local computer or an email attachment to your local computer. Only view your email from a webmail site.

Never ever click a link or open an attachment from someone that you don't know or even from someone that you do know, unless you were expecting them to send you an attachment or link.

Have a good evening,

Reid

I agree, and the use of Java makes it a deal killer for me with Scottrade as well.

Apple actually disables Java by default now and you have to choose to enable it in the OS for use in your web browser. I haven't used it in at least 2 years out of security concerns.

Looks like it'll be either Google Finance or a specific Mac app to find what I'm looking for.
