You're probably saying Jesus said blessed are the poor in spirit. According to Matthew that is correct, but Luke 6: 20 simply says blessed are the poor.

Luke 6: 20 And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said:

“Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God."

The cartoon below actually implicitly acknowledges both versions.



The depiction of what Trump would've replied is accurate. He really does embody the polar opposite of the Christian virtues with no guilt or shame.
