Well, all skiers are on the very edge of control, since skies are quite slippery and so are ice and snow. From what I could glean from a solid hour of Sonny Bono news, and reading Newsweek about Michael Kennedy, everyone should wear a helmet, and it is not good to play football and ski at the same time (duh)!

Actually, Congressperson Bono was apparently skiing on the edges of the slopes, winding through the trees for sport. He and Michael Kennedy were both expert skiers, and Bono had been skiing at Heavenly every year since 1972. Since the near-death thrills are part of the sheer exhiliration of skiing for many people, it will be hard to convince them all to wear helmets, although as you probably know, for children they are mandatory in Canada. And there are an average of only thirty-two deaths per year, so your individual chance of skiing yourself to death is one in 1.4 million.

Okay, you've exhausted everything I know about skiing accidents, Carol!!!
