Sorry, Holly, only thirty seconds of shame are allowed on this thread!!! My attention span just doesn't last much longer these days.

I did reread your very much altered post. The nicotine inhaler is something with which I am not really familiar at all. My first question would be how it works--does the dosage of nicotine drop off as smokers are weaned from their habits, or is it something it would be okay to use forever if that were the only alternative to smoking? As you may remember, I was talking here recently about the psychological component, particularly for very heavy smokers, and wonder how the nicotine inhaler addresses that part of the addiction.

I am just about the last person who would want to encourage bandwagon hysteria of any kind, Holly. On the other hand, I feel very comfortable and well within any legal boundaries I could think of, discussing issues in a general way here which are being talked about on national television. I cannot protect a senseless person from himself, and just don't even feel that I need to constantly try--I have enough problems already. If I second-guessed myself every time I thought about writing something, I would be a neurotic mess, always looking over my shoulder. Now you wouldn't want that, would you? I can guarantee it wouldn't be pleasant.

Anyway, I am always urging people to go to the doctor. And please don't drink any of that herbal dieters' tea, everyone, without understanding that there have been fatalities. There is a dangerous laxity in the American thought process, an assumption that herbal remedies are very safe, but some of them are quite toxic, and because the industry is not well regulated, what the label on the bottle says may not be what you are receiving, or it may be very much concentrated, or diluted, from the dosage you think you are taking!!
