Dan; RE> Our government deficits and HUGE national debt are to blame....additionally the average U.S. person has 2600 in credit card bills.....<<< -------------- I also think we need to look at corporate dept. IT is HUGE, look at GEs dept. Add up the dept of huge multinationl companies ! IT exceeds our national dept ! In fact it looks like the Gov is in a trap trying to compeat with all the JUNK BONDS. International coporations have more money, and dept, and power than the US gov, in effect they are in charge of this. Also they seem to be locked in a mindless battle for power, and running like a machine that's out of controal. Within these huge coporations, so much is going on that comunations break down, and one derpartment seldome knows what, the other departments are doing. I'v seen this before but it's more noticable now. No one places a limit on how much dept these Mega Corps can carry, belive me it's what helped kill the Japanese market, and the yen, and it can happen here too. ---------- At some point a few big Corperations can't leverage any more and start defaulting on their dept, one leads to another as they all have bought into one anothers dept trying to leverage a "spread" to get more "interest" than they have to pay.. This is at the HEART of the problem..CORP 1 issues Bonds at 8%..but also buys bonds from Corp2. whos' bonds are paying more..in effect trying to get something for nothing, and it goes on and on. This is mindless and sooner or later hits a wall. OF course the Government will be blamed for the entire thing, but the goverment has had it's hands tied by coporate america, as well as the international corporations. They are the real government, and when it all collapes they are accountable to no one. When Capitalism gets to smart and cocky for it's pants, it falls to not remember history , is to repeat it. It was the failure of coperate dept..that really triggered, every depression and major recession we have had. Any corperation that issues bonds should be prevented from buying bonds..but they won't let that law be passed, and they are the ones who tell us what laws we can or can not have, via a lobby that dances only to the almighty dollar.
