Have you seen any numbers on what type of machines were hacked? I wouldn't be surprised if many were Windows XP based machines.

I remember being at Microsoft a few years ago watching a NASA briefing in a conference room when the computer they were using rebooted during the presentation and when it booted up it show NASA was still using Windows XP , everyone at Microsoft was shocked, this was at a time Microsoft when was pushing Windows 8.

Most people would be surprised to see how many companies and organizations around the world are still operating their functions using Windows XP. Often it is because they are using some software program which was based on Windows XP and they are worried if they upgrade to a newer version of Windows it will no longer work for them. That was the reason for Microsoft giveaway millions of copies of Windows 10 software in an effort to get everyone on the same platform and force updates so to be able to secure it as much as possible.
