I recall Obama saying it was his responsibility as president to fight on behalf of Islam. I don't recall this listed anywhere as a responsibility of a US president. "And I consider it part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear." Pope Francis is guerrilla fighter like his countryman Che Guevara. The mandate of the pope is the salvation of souls and not making hysterical proclamations on economic policy and global warming.
