Excellent post, JP. I'm slightly surprised no one reco'd it.

The argument can be made that we experienced a stealth bear market in stocks from Mid 2015 into the early 2016
The extreme negativity towards the market in early Feb 2016 was noteworthy. I'm going to "pick on" one of RtS's posts, as I think he summed up beautifully some of the many reasons why so many were bearish at the time, on 10/28/2015

Are there any reasons to suspect that the market is likely to fail to set new highs in all the major indexes going forward?

You better believe it..... more at Message 30294039

Ever the cautious optimist, I think we've suffered through some seriously strong headwinds this year. To be where we are at, given the backdrop, I'm thinking we could have a lot more room to run up.

Using seasons as the analogy, many think we are either in Fall or entering Winter. I think we are either in the middle of Winter or entering Spring.

If we're in the middle of Winter, then your view on next year could be very accurate!
Needless to say, the next few months were tough but I believe that the long term view for being bullish has been justified by the move since Feb 2016!! Message 30293949
