My then husband body-surfed. (Gulf is normally utterly flat.) Early on, not in the middle of it. Not quite that crazy.

I experienced a lot of hurricanes as a kid. I was pretty much psychologically inured to them. I must say, though, that the reality of Camille did cost me more than a few heartbeats.

Many of us stood on that porch and watched as massive oak trees were uprooted before our eyes.

Makes a good anecdote now. Then, iffy.
