Amazon has a huge fulfillment center just into the Wisconsin border.

Wisely placed one hour north of the USA' 3rd largest city - Chicago. My wife went to visit her sister in Chicago - bought a leather couch - the sales tax in Cook county is 10 % vs 5 % in Wisconsin.

That's a big price difference.

Chicago is an expensive place to live toll ways vs freeways.

I'm sure LA and New York are higher - buy I'm just a country boy who enjoys reasonable low cost living.

Going to the museums or, is not along the way to my favorite hunting stand.<smile>

I would argue Mom and Pop were destroyed by Wal-Mart some time ago, AMZN is destroying Best Buy, Department Stores, all BigBox retailers and is turning Home Depot and Lowes into lumberyards and has Wal-Mart in it's sights.
