That is a really cool moment. I love books that describe places I've been, or am going, or am at that moment- it's very much like telepathy- albeit not in real time. But to be inside another's thoughts (which is what reading is), while in the same place- that's pretty magical.

Also, a later Bosch novel has a serial killer on house arrest in Venice but he sneaks out. He shows up walking down my street, in front of my house. Very freaky to read it.
