One other piece of information that might help everyone in their analysis of the numbers:

"Since its presentation at DRUPA 1995, over 600 of these four-color presses [i.e. the Quickmaster DI-46-4] have been delivered."

FYI, as to the market for the Quickmaster, Heidelberg states that "the DI-46-4 occupies the market between color copiers and electronic office printers (1 to 100 copies) and traditional offset printing (1,500 and more copies) while offering time and cost savings for print runs of this length."

GV, Thank you for the Heidelberg Information regarding their new prospectus content. However, I interpret the information you presented in a different manner:

1. The Prospectus stated - "The Company is planning a further cooperation with the Canadian company Creo Products Inc. ("Creo") to develop and market additional products in the "computer-to-plate" area."

CTP is NOT direct imaging "on press." and has nothing to do with the current and future agreements with Presstek. Creo does not have an on press imaging solution that can take the place of Presstek laser technology.

2. The Prospectus stated - "The Company has entered into a memorandum of understanding with respect to a joint venture with Eastman Kodak for the purpose of developing "non-impact printing."

"Non-impact printing" also has nothing to do with "on-press direct imaging" and is being developed to capture the competitive advantage in toner based concepts currently enjoyed by Xeikon DCP-1, and the Indigo's E-Print 1000. This is a completely different technology than Presstek's Quickmaster DI process and currently, Heidelberg has watched a portion of this type of print market go to the above competitors.

3. The prospectus states - "The Company also plans to form a joint venture with the German software producer SAP AG for the purpose of developing and marketing intergrated software solutions for the media industry. The joint venture is expected to begin operations in mid-1998."

This has no relationship with Presstek in anyway and does not conflict with the the on-press arrangments with Presstek.

GV, Based on the prospectus, I fail to see the basis for your post: "It is quite apparent that Presstek is the relationship of the past, and Kodak and Creo is the relationship of the future." As you may recall, Heidelberg has spent a fortune in developing a new facility to manufacture the QMDI and the supporting technology. This press is their #1 advertised item and will continue to be a very viable option for years into the future. I would also add that the Presstek press release was quite obvious as to the Heidelberg relationship as stated:
"Its business relationship with Heidelberg is sound, and includes not only "continuing manufacturing efforts", but NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS which will carry the alliance well into the next century. Presstek expects to ship its 1,000th Quickmaster DI imaging system in early 1998."

GV, your opinion is in direct conflict with the above press release and is total negative spin!

Leaving for Atlanta this afternoon and will return Friday, so will be off the thread until then.
