My understanding is it's not really a January bounce: It's a January effect -- however goes January, so goes the year... One e-mail newsletter I got was so brave as to predict a 1998 trading range of 7350 to 9000....I'm sure that the prediction took a lot of thought and deep research: it sure covered all of the bases without making much of a commitment to which was more likely....(glad I don't pay for that letter, but you usually get what you pay for...)
