Even if AOL was available, he'd still have to pay the high hourly charge with slow speed. The local telco controls the access, just as in the U.S. Flat rate local calling as is commonly available in the U.S. is the anomaly compared with the rest of the world. BTW, having the word America in your company name creates both positive and negative baggage when going abroad. Where there is a competent local competitor, it is probably overwhelmingly negative. (Would you be inclined to buy your access from Japan on Line?)
