When did I claim it would be instantaneous? The fact of the matter is that coal is more expensive than natural gas, wind and solar.

While China did cancel 85 plants back a few months ago, that still leaves almost 1200 planned by 2000.

Nonsense.
The 1200 plants by 2030, I presume that is the date you meant, includes the 103 that were cancelled this year. Not to mention the 300GW of capacity that was cancelled last year. Given that China's current coal plants are running at 40% to 50% of utilization, the number of cancellations can only increase.

And some Chinese are arguing that China doesn't need more than they have.
