Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe MSFT
gets their PCMCIA software from SystemSoft. I believe the
software is a watered-down version of the full CardWizard
product that SYSF sells to notebook OEMs. If you look at
the bottom of any SYSF press release, you will notice that
MSFT is listed as a SYSF customer.

CardWorks for Win 95/98 and CardWizard for Windows NT 4.0 aren't absolutely necessary, but they do simplify the management of PC cards, judging by the large number of OEMs shipping them. Do you think its possible that CardWizard/Cardworks will continue to have a place in the PC market, given that these programs support a wide array of hardware products (and are therefore somewhat outside of Microsoft's current core focus)?
