I doubt disabling an add-on will fix an "out of the blue" speed problem, if you have been running in Multi-Process mode without issue. Running in Single-Process mode is much more likely to have an effect depending on the website, your internet connection, hardware, etc.

However, I would recommend installing the following add-on.

addons.mozilla.org

This will display whether your FF add-ons have been flagged as compatible or not. This will also allow you to report back to Mozilla on the add-ons you use. Compatibility is just a flag they set, but they need feedback, particularly if you are using some little used add-on. Come version 57 incompatible add-ons will be automatically disabled.

It will also tell you whether you are running in Multi-Process mode or not.

See this blog entry for more info.
