billwot, after checking all my transactions in 97 and the statements I think I was up in the very low 1 digit not counting my self directed Ira and Pension plan. Those did well. My Ira had Intel stock and warrants, umm, at one point 3Com/Usrx which was sold at a nice profit to buy PBI and that went up nicely, so I had a 30% gain in that account despite Intel. The other personal accounts had been up about 140% at one time, counting margin, before dropping to the very low digits. I have not checked the excact prozentage. Still too disgusted with it. Intel, APM, 3COM and a cpl. of others did me in at the end. So, I don't think the buy and hold theory works every year. Like I mentioned in a previous post, paying the taxman on some profits would have been cheap . I used to take some profits even in Intel but decided against that in 1997. Things just looked better than it ended up. But I take 1997 over 1987 any time. gg. I am watching APM. I did finally sell it Dec.31 for a tax loss, to offset gains, but with the idea of buying it back after 30 days. So I did not like the upturn immediately after I sold it. I am actually happy to see it down the last cpl. of days. I think with this low PE, here we go again with that one, I think it is a buy. At 11 it only had 11 points to go to 0 and I do not think this will be happening. I will let you know if I get it back once the 30 days are over. Depends where it is at. I do believe the market will be going up. Today was a good day, with all this worrying going on, for the big boys to take profit. You see what happened at the end. I think the best indicator of the market will be when the NFC will win the Superbowl again . gg. It has been working the majority of the time. Big boys will have a tough time going against that. It worked until end of Sept. And the market as a whole was up nicely, just not my or our techs. Go NFC Sonny
