Roger,

Sorry for the bad advise! It did not split, but announced that they were only going to report $.23 to $.24 instead of estimates of $.25 compared to $.15! I only hope the knock AOL and YHOO by that big of a percentage if they miss by only 1 or 2 cents! I put an order in to buy at $17 1/2 today to add to my long position and so did Mike but he has already sold at $18 1/2!

You've got a home run with RAIN, they announced slow sales. They didnt file chapter 11...PTB filed chapter 11 however and for some reason is still over 5. Good Luck

Roger, from briefing.com re: RAIN <<RAINFOREST CAFE INC. (RAIN) 30 3/4 CLOSED. Shares of theme restaurants and specialty stores concern are expected to open significantly lower this morning after the company said last night that 4Q earnings were likely to come in between $0.23 and $0.24 a share, one to two cents below the First Call mean estimate. It doesn't sound like a very large miss, especially since earnings for the quarter will be above year-ago net of $0.15 a share and sales are expected to come in around $34.5 million, an increase of 71% from $20.2 million in the year-ago period. However, on a comparable basis, store sales fell 11% from a year-ago and sales for three of the units excluded from the same-store sales results were lower than projected. Rainforest also said that results for the period were also impacted by construction delays at Aventura Mall in Miami and the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Hence, for a stock that is currently trading at 39 times projected 1997 earnings of $0.79 and 23 times projected 1998 earnings of $1.30 a share, any stumble or perception that sales and earnings growth are not keeping up with valuations can be dreadful for such a high profile stock. This issue had been trading as high as $38 1/8 as recently as early December, but it is expected to open as low as $10 below yesterday's closing price. Thus, this issue will live-up to its name of being "A Wild Place to Shop and Eat" today.>>

Roger- RAIN preannounced earnings a couple cents below consensus but on a significant (-11% I think) decrease in same store sales. You are ahead big. Way to go!
