"Government bureaucracy is a tremendous problem on all large projects "
It didn't seem to hurt the interstate system.

"We've all heard of having reroute major projects because some damned frog got in the way."
Some of us even applaud when that happens.

We've all heard of having reroute major projects because some damned frog got in the way. People have to have a little bit of perspective.

You need some perspective, to go a little out of the way to not disrupt a food chain or cause a species to go extinct, should be seen as a worthy goal. Besides, you never know which obscure frog will produce the next miracle drug discovery.

That said...yes, the permitting system needs a close look from the local, to national, levels. It's bureaucracy, not frogs that are causing the problems. I work in a busy that needs to get permits all the time, and they (city bureaucracy) drive me nuts.
