I do not think anyone could have guessed the success of the G3 and online store.

The profits are due to the success Job had cutting costs, not the wild success of the things ou mention. Revenues after all, were down quarter to quarter.

Having profits it is certainly a good sign, although one I had expected. Last quarter I predicted small profits/gains for the next few quarters.

I think revenues will continue to wither. Investors do expect losses next quarter, if they are small (~30 million), the stock will hold, if they are large, will be down to $10 in no time.

One of my biggest gripes agains Amelio is that he did not have the guts to cut deep enough at once. Apple is profitable today at $1.57 billion. Think about where Apple would be if Gil had cut that deep a year ago. But at the time "investors" here were enthralled with "Apple's superior technology" and "loyal customers", when they should have been calling for deeper cuts.

Jobs seemed to have continued cutting. I hope he carries on all the way down to $1 billion in expenditures....
