Dangerous for the Trump Team, that's for sure. Also see:

The SS Trump firing cannons into their deck again.
The Trump's talk way too much to be smart. They can't keep their mouths shut. Though his lawyers will prevent it from happening, Trump is almost certainly thinking about testifying just because of the ratings and attention he'd get. He talked himself into a special prosecutor and he can't shut it down without making his problem worse. This situation will get worse and worse as long as the Trump Presidency lasts.

Newt Gingrich, who has a new book out this week titled Understanding Trump, defended President Trump and slammed not just James Comey but special counsel Robert Mueller for not being as neutral as many are saying.

Chris Wallace opened the Fox News Sunday panel discussion with this tweet of Gingrich’s from a few days ago:

Republicans need to focus on closing down independent counsel because it clearly isn't independent. LIVE now: t.co

Wallace asked, “What’s your reasoning and wouldn’t that really look like an obstruction of justice?”

Gingrich recalled how Comey said he thought having his friend leak his memo would create the special counsel, “who happens to be one of his closest friends.”

He also questioned “who Mueller’s starting to hire,” describing them as people who look like “they’re setting up to go after Trump” in a “witch hunt.”

Gingrich was the only one on the panel who felt this way about Mueller. Karl Rove even said, “I think it would be a huge mistake to try and shut down the special counsel. This would leave the Trump administration, the Trump presidency, under a cloud until the very last day and make it an ongoing issue.”

But Gingrich, who revisited what Rove said about the Valerie Plame special counsel during the Bush administration, added this:

“I distrust independent counsels. I think that the people Mueller’s bringing in are dangerous people. And any Republican who thinks this counsel’s going to be neutral is crazy. It’ll be like expecting The Post or The New York Times to be accurate.”

Gingrich knows Mueller will take Trump and his people apart.
