Jim

Since, as you say, you read a lot of Wall Street analysts and their research comments, specifically Luci Painter (as per your post #27037), well you should post what she said today at lunch. Before I write what she said, for those of you who don't know Ms. Painter, her bias is pro Compaq.

Ms. Painter wrote

"..while PC growth was healthy in North America and Europe, which is recovering, it was "spotty" in emerging markets. She added that Latin America experienced decent growth. She added that she expects the PC industry to see market share consolidation, which should help CPQ, DELL and HWP in particular.

She adds that Compaq had a great quarter, and that DELL saw solid demand in the quarter, which ends in January, and said the company's quarter is on track. Lastly, she said that enterprise sales were especially strong for DELL"

Jim, please if you are going to quote an analyst, please don't be selective.

My last point is more of a general comment. I feel that there are a lot of people who believe that if DELL does well it means CPQ won't and vis-versa. This is simply not the case. I truely believe that both companies will do well this year.
