I am holding off buying a new car because it will be annoying to find my new car banned from the road due to laws requiring only autopilot cars to avoid head on and other collisions. I'll upgrade to older petrol/diesel cars until electrics finally become economic.

The car companies will find a rapid switch to autopilot when it reaches 50% of cars as those people will demand that other cars are not able to swerve over the middle line and crash into them. It might happen really fast and soon. Road death, injury, wreckage and delays are a major problem in modern life.

During the switch, electric cars will probably be best placed to fill the needs.

Car insurance costs will also force people to adopt autopilot cars.
