eSchwab has probably the flat out fastest execution and online response of the one's I've used, although you will pay for that priviledge as their fee is $30. The real problem I have with eSchwab was if one had it as their only account - getting real time quotes uses up your credits (you get so many freee quotes for each trade) in a hurry - uses them up faster than normal trading would accumulate. But, they are fast and accurate. Ameritrade doesn't make a market in stocks, but is fast enough for most uses. ETrade has teh slowest online screens I have EVER used. Their orders are sent to market fast enough, but you may wait an hour to get confirmation on busy days. Of course you could phone them to verify - but then whats the point of that? They keep saying they are upgrading, but if I don't see some substantial improvement in 4 months, I am pulling both my accounts from there.
