It is a sad day when the intelligence community cannot be trusted by the President of the United States. It appears that with the revelations that are coming out about the actions of FBI director Comey the President is justified to have doubts. The Intelligence community, at least the FBI, has become so politically motivated and entwined, at least in regard to its director Comey, that its intel to the President and Congress is suspect. I would hope that now that Comey is gone the integrity of the FBI can be restored. The claim that Russia hacked many different areas having to do with the recent election may be suspect. Comey said he was completely convinced it was Russia that was responsible. Based on Comey's word the Congress is moving to install new sanctions on Russia. With the recent discrediting of Comey this perhaps needs to be postponed until Mueller finishes his investigation. I believe it would be prudent to be positive sanctions are warranted rather than just take a discredited Comey's word for it. Remember Hillary's ridiculous reset plastic button she displayed to Putin. Obama and Hillary talked about a reset in relations with Russia. President Trump has also made it clear that if good relations with Russia could be had it would benefit our country. This is obviously true. If sanctions are not warranted and we apply them for our own political reasons that would be a tragedy. If sanctions are warranted we of course should apply them. The weakness of our last President was taken advantage of by Putin and if he thinks he can use the same strong handed tactics with President Trump he is very mistaken.
