Demogrspher Harry Dent has been calling for a catastrophic decline in the price of gold as inflation hopes fall flat, just as he's calling for a 2/3 decline in stock prices. That's the ironic aspect of derivative markets. The volume of crude oil futures bought and sold are overwhelmingly larger than the amount of oil consumed or available for delivery. Paper oil and real oil are just passing acqaintences at best.
