Let's not kid ourselves here: there is a very large segment of the American electorate which privately applauded the act of the shooter, but were dismayed he didn't achieve better results. The moral of the story, of course, is that real people are impacted by these potential budget cuts in Social security and medicare. You know as well as I do that having constructive dialogue with those who represent the top 1% (almost all the Republicans) will end up nowhere. The Republicans exist to increase the net worth of the top 1%. If they got the votes, they will push through their agenda. They don't care. If the shooter was successful, either special reelections would need to be held or the governor would have to temporarily reappoint someone to fill the vacant seats.
