The medical system is at the root of the evil, imo.

My wife recently had a routine chest x-ray to check on pneumonia. $460. I had the same thing done in 1986: $20.

Medical system encourages disasters in hospital because it can mean far more profit, hence MRSA infections rampant. Except at the VA where they have a fixed budget and increasing patient base so they did something simple about it and cut infections 72%.

Look at this list recently published in the Seattle Times... 6 surgeons at this hospital billing over $50 million per year, just for THEM, that doesn't include "rental" of a surgical theater, hospital stays, etc. Just the 'attending' charges: projects.seattletimes.com

Something seriously wrong, and it, imo, is why Medicare is dying. The elderly don't even get any dental coverage, when they need it the most, too.
