Agreed Steve and I do know AMD is only getting a small portion of the 'biz',but I like to provoke people into discussing the issues anyway who knows the thread & I might pick up some new information from them,which they/I might have otherwise missed,overlooked or didn't know about.

This will turn out to be a great move by Compaq to keep Intel on their toes in using AMD chips. In the long haul this will benefit CPQ's bottom line as competition will bring proc. chips down.

Why would anyone think this move to AMD could be a negative? Do we still believe people will shun CPQ because it uses an AMD chip instead of an Intel on SOME of their low cost machines. I don't think first time buyers or a second PC for the kids in the home buyer give a damn..........It's all about MONEY.
