"Let's increase demand."
The economics of scale.

I'm not big on the economic concept of "demand" for health care...

"Demand is an economic principle that describes a consumer's desire and willingness to pay a price for a specific good or service."

The need for basic care is there, whether or not the patient is able to pay the cost. I would say "demand" only applies to elective cosmetic procedures, whether boob jobs or botox. There are other things we could argue about; for instance, I'd prefer self-discipline to liposuction and stomach stapling. Chris Christie didn't need fat surgery as much as he needed a 2 mile daily walk and a 2500 calorie diet. Trump needs to get his belly out of a golf cart, and start walking the course. Some people actually do that.

How do we fix the cost? The first profit center I'd go after is the health insurance industry, by going to single payer. If the rich want to go Cadillac, they can buy supplemental policies.

Then, drugs. Not drug prices or drug imports, not Rx drugs, not illegal drugs....drugs. We use too many, and we are encouraged to tell our docs what the manufacturers say we need.
