My daughter has horror stories of her roomies serial hookups - like literally a different person every night of every week. This isn't "free love" - it is depersonalization of intimacy (IMO). We, in our family, aren't religious or judgy but really? How could anyone come out of this to any period of monogamy? It is like the first hiccup or disappointment, it is "See ya!" Sad times for them ... as you say; it isn't that it's the monogamy way or nothing, but this extreme of casual sexuality just seems so empty.
