Westmin indicated that it is higher than normal, some smelters
cannot handle high selenium. Cominco's Kudz ze Kaya also has high
selenium and they can handle removing it at their smelter. The problem
is not the removal but the costs of removal.Actually Westmin is now
indicating that the need a partner like Cominco or Boliden who
have the processes for removing selenium in ther smelters. They are
also saying that they need more tonnage to make it feasable to sell
the selenium(see PI's report that was posted on the net). What we need
is the cost to remove their selenium per ton.Maybe you could ask your contact at Cominco.

Cominco haas a less costly technology to remove hazardous residues in
copper.Press release by Cominco dated Jan6, Cominco to market new
copper refining technology. The new technology will bring cost
reductions as well as major environmental improved processing of copper concentrates. The technology eliminates air emmissions including
particulates prevalent in conventional smelting, achieves high recovery rates and leaves only non-hazardous residues( see cominco.com)
