The American reality is that some cities will probably be sacrificed. Parts of cities certainly will be sacrificed.

Seems to me we ought to be talking about that. And it seems to me that we ought to be looking at the current refugee problems in the context of the even bigger ones to come.

"we will have refugees. Is that a given?"

I had in mind the given that we would sacrifice cities thus we would have refugees. I agree that cities will have to be sacrificed. It just seems to me that, if that's a given, it should be out there. I'm originally from NJ. All my life there and all along the Atlantic coast they have been protecting beaches from natural erosion. I assume that lotsa people expect that to continue, that we will throw good money at avoiding the inevitable. People take a long time to adjust, particularly to things they don't like. Everyone still hasn't adjusted to blacks and women being equal and that's been going on my whole lifetime. We ought to be talking about it now so grandkids don't expect to take possession of the family beach house one day and family money can be redirected into their education so they can live well in Denver.
