substitutions are layers of abstraction in parsing the meaning of the literal code to be executed, my simple linear style makes clear the operation. but for and case syntax varies with shells or language. if's also but not so much.

some may think fewer line and more compact is better, but not for simple explanation of operation to larger audiences.

your case statement for statements would not substitute or work in the program I wrote.
Or one could say you falsely bashed my script code.
